Submit a Proposal for PSAE's Annual Arts Integration Conference!
Looking Ahead: Shaping the Future of Arts Integration invites participants to discuss and learn about an education landscape where the integration of arts is not only commonplace, but also essential for preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Join us in exploring best practices, sharing success stories, and collectively shaping the future of arts integration as a transformative force in education. Together, let's navigate the path towards a more interconnected, creative, and holistic approach to learning.
PSAE's Peer-to-Peer approach to professional development uses expertise of real educators in the classroom and in leadership positions to showcase best practices in arts integrated education, as well as arts discipline education, that make the Palmetto State shine.
PSAE’s Conference offers both large group sessions and small, breakout sessions during the two-day conference. Breakout sessions are usually 50 minutes in length, and are led by educators and community arts leaders who lend their expertise to attendees. Please use this form to submit your idea of a proposal to be considered for the 2024 Conference agenda!
*The deadline has now passed and the submission portal is now closed.
There are several tracks of professional development at PSAE's Conference. Each proposal will be organized in these tracks. Here are the descriptions:
Arts Integration - Using the Kennedy Center's definition of arts integration, this is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area to meet evolving objectives in both. Sessions in this track will offer guidance to teachers and education professionals in using this approach through demonstration, theory, or discussion.
Arts Education - Arts Education, or arts learning, refers to the process of teaching and learning how to create the visual and performing arts, and how to further understand arts disciplines (primarily visual art, music, theater, and dance). Sessions in this track will offer guidance to teachers and education professionals in broadening their classroom technique and understanding of different approaches to arts concepts through demonstration, theory, or discussion.
STEAM Education - STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Sessions in this track will offer guidance to teachers and education professionals in using this approach through demonstration, theory, or discussion.
Student Teachers - Students attending colleges and universities in education or arts programs are welcome to attend the conference. Sessions in this track will offer guidance in expanding a teaching practice, interview skills, and networking opportunities with school hiring managers (mostly arts education positions).
Leadership (District Arts Coordinators and Principals) - School and district leadership professionals include principals of arts-focused schools, district arts coordinators, or those that wear multiple hats with arts on the list. Sessions in this track will include discussion of topics important to leading arts programs or schools, collaborating with partners, and best practices for general administration.
Future Focused - What is the next phase of arts integrated education? Use of Technology is becoming more prevalent in classrooms, but how do we as educators adapt to changing realities? What are other uses of arts integration in schools? Sessions in this track can include a variety of topics that focus on trends or innovative uses of arts integration in education.
Proposals are for 50 minute breakout sessions. This is not a paid opportunity, but a chance to share your expertise with colleagues.
We look forward to reviewing your proposals! Candidates chosen to present at PSAE's Arts Integration Conference will be contacted later in the summer.
